Job Description

With support of the neurosciences service line, performs medical and psychosocial evaluation of patient with acute and chronic pain management; extensive involvement in discharge planning and continuity of care efforts; and support and collaboration with primary medical and nursing staff responsible for the patient.  Acts as a member of an interdisciplinary professional team providing pain management consultation for patients suffering from acute/chronic uncontrolled pain.  All work is performed in close collaboration with primary physicians, house staff, nursing staff and social services.

Qualifications

Education & Training:  Nurse Practitioner with appropriate Maryland licensure and credentialing to practice under the supervision of a physician, in the state of Maryland.  ANCC or ASPMN certification in Pain Management is preferred.

 

Work Orientation & Experience:  A minimum of five years of direct patient care experience in internal medicine or pain management.  Experience is appropriate to the management of complex acute / chronic pain management with issues of chronic disease.
