- Join a multifaceted team that covers the surgical critical care and medical intermediate care units.
- Primary role as a neurocritical care Advanced Practice Practitioner working six (6) 13-hour days shifts in a two-week pay period.
- Will have the opportunity to cross cover other APP lead service lines.
- Evaluate and address medical problems specific to critical care,
- Be competent in ventilator management,
- Effectively request consultation of other specialties when indicated,
- Create diagnostically appropriate treatment plans,
- Document all medical evaluation, history, physical, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, and referrals consistent with The Joint Commission, state regulatory standards, and evidence-based standards of care. Maintains documentation compliant coding and billing.
- Function professionally on an interdisciplinary team,
- Utilizes appropriate chain-of-command and communicates with specialties, APP directors, and medical director.
- Competent in ultra-sound guided procedures including Central line placement, arterial line placement, US-guided IV placement; training provided during onboarding.
- Other procedures include chest tube placement, thoracentesis, paracentesis, Impella management, ballon pump management.
- Cross-cover additional services as experience permits.
- Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty.
- Completes at least 50 hours of Category I CME every two years. Including 32 hours of trauma related CME.
- Performs according to Maryland BOP standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.
- Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care as part of our High Reliability Organization.
- Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelines,
- Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional department and organizational core values
- Follows Capital Region Health’s High Reliability Organization principles of patient safety, zero harm, professionalism, and mutual respect for patients, families, and coworkers.
- Participates in APP Council meetings, Neuroscience team meetings, APP and Neuroscience team educational opportunities, and other learning opportunities as they arise.
- Engages in leadership activities including but not limited to APP representation on committees, training and education of other APPs, or specific event or team
- PAs: Bachelor’s degree, graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program, and certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician’s Assistants are required. Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
- NPs: Bachelor’s degree, RN experience, and completion of Acute Nurse Practitioner degree. Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- One year of surgical, emergency, or critical care experience is preferred.
- Credentialing must be obtained from UM Capital Region Health’s Medical Staff Office and maintenance of BLS /ACLS certification is required. ATLS and FCCS certifications are preferred.
- Salary is commensurate with clinical experience.

Pay Range: $61.63 – $111.56
