Job Description

General Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the assessment of patients including development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care. This person interprets and performs complex patient care procedures that are specific to their area of expertise. In the absence of the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, the Clinical Pharmacist will assume the Coordinator’s duties. Patients served include infant, child and adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator and/or the Director of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from accredited school of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and clinical experience (residency) are acceptable in lieu of PharmD.
  • Current Maryland License or eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland required.
  • One – two years as Clinical Pharmacist in institutional setting preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Works inside in a clean, well-light environment.
  • Fast paced; exposed to frequent interruptions, variability in work load, and multiple demands.
  • Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) precautions and safe handling practices.
  • Required participation in on-call rotation with Clinical Pharmacist.
  • May be required to work beyond normal tour of duty and rotate shifts based on department needs.
  • This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of annual testing.
