Job Description

  1. CO-CHAIRS THE ENVIRONMENT OF CARE COMMITTEE: Plans the agenda, coordinates reports, facilitates discussion and determines action for the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee. Proactively provides information and educates members of current and future issues/regulations/requirements impacting safety in the organization.
  2. PLANS AND IMPLEMENTS SJMC SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMS: Evaluates safety plans and program to determine compliance with current regulatory standards and requirements. Investigates and oversees departmental investigations of all reported safety incidents and complaints in a timely manner.
  3. PROVIDES EDUCATION TO SUPPORT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT: Plans and presents initial orientation and annual updates for continuing employee education. Provides continuous education through hazard surveillance rounds and other safety activities to improve staff knowledge and response to safety issues.

Qualifications

  • 4 years/Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • Master’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (Preferred)
  • Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years experience (Required)
