Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the social worker is responsible for completing psychosocial assessments, assisting with treatment planning, monitoring patient progress, facilitating patient and family meetings, and coordinating and implementing discharge and aftercare services for patients in the behavioral health inpatient unit. The social worker may also provide psychotherapy utilizing brief therapy models incorporating crisis stabilization and cognitive behavioral techniques. Participates in behavioral health quality improvement and evaluation processes.

Position requires accountability for planning, organizing, and directing discharge and aftercare services.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education & Training:
MSW from a school of social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education required. 

Maryland licensure at the LCSW or LCSW-C required. 

Training in aggressive patient management required.
 

Work Orientation & Experience:
Experience working with individuals with acute and chronic psychiatric care needs required.  Acute care social work experience preferred.  Knowledge of Case Management and Utilization Management preferred.  The applicant may require up to three months of detailed job orientation and training to gain specific capabilities to perform essential job functions.
