Advanced Practice Provider- University of Maryland Midtown Campus
The University of Maryland Midtown Campus is seeking a dynamic, experienced Advanced Practice Provider to work in the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU).
Come be a part of the inaugural team in caring for this specialized neuro patient population. The Neuro – ICU at the Midtown Campus is one of multiple ICUs in the University of Maryland Medical System that provides care for neurologically injured patients. The Midtown-Neuro ICU is equipped with 24 hour cEEG monitoring and serves as a regional referral neurocritical center for status epilepticus, non-surgical intracerebral hemorrhage, Guillan-Barre Syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, and neuroinflammatory diseases. We are looking for APPs who can integrate best practices and relevant research into excellent clinical care with an emphasis on quality of care and patient safety. As part of an integrated, multi-campus program, the Advanced Practice Providers work alongside Neurocritical Care Faculty and Fellows from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. As the primary provider, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient assessment, diagnosis and management. Procedures include central access, bronchoscopy and lumbar puncture to name a few. Additional training in bedside ultrasound is available. Providers are encouraged to attend weekly multidisciplinary conferences that include case presentations, neurocritical care didactics, and journal club. Looking for an experienced advanced practice provider with great collaboration with Neuro-intensivists and other physician colleagues. General supervision, responsible for diagnosing and effectively treating patients. Provide continuity of patient care by facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient’s family. Coordinate care to ensure quality, cost effective care; appropriate length of stay; and patient safety. Serves as link integrating relevant research and best practices.
- A Master of Science degree, with completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program (Requires Acute Nurse Practitioner). Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Nursing,and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of specialization.
- Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required. Evidence of current certification as a Physician Assistant by the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
1+ year of experience in an ICU setting required.
