At UMMS, each of us is motivated to forge connections with our patients, their families, businesses and community organizations as building blocks to healthy communities. But it doesn’t start and stop at the hospitals. UMMS strives to make an impact in our communities, largely looking to address social determinants of health so that everyone has an equal opportunity to access quality healthcare. 

Some programs we run in the community include: 

  • Mama & Baby Bus program
  • The Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Care Program
  • Living Well Workshop
  • Working with various weekend food distribution programs – Baltimore Hunger Project, Student Support Network, Firehouse Subs, Hungry Harvest, Y of Central Maryland
  • Blood drives
  • Partnering with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc Anne County to hold screenings, education, and other resources to encourage women of color to take charge of their breast health
  • Senior University – Education for seniors on topics such as finances, safety, and health.
