The UMMS Staffing Center is a unique opportunity for talented and passionate health care workers to join the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), a prestigious and highly ranked health care organization that is making a difference in the health of residents across the state of Maryland. The UMMS Staffing Center focuses on hiring staff to fill roles which are primarily involved in the direct care of patients to support patient care across UMMS.

To support staffing and patient care needs, UMMS Staffing Center team members are deployed to UMMS member hospitals primarily in two regions of staffing coverage; Baltimore Metro Area and Southern Maryland.

Our Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for the UMMS Staffing Center has at least two (2) years of recent and relevant hospital experience, must commit to a set number of hours per year.

Schedule Commitment

Registered Nurses & Patient Care Technicians: 624 hours per year (July-June)

• Of the yearly requirement, team members must commit to 156 hours in weekend shifts.

All Other Roles (Allied Health and Non-Clinical): 416 hours per year (July-June)

• Of the yearly requirement, team members must commit to 104 hours in weekend shifts.

Holiday Requirement

Team members are required to work one (1) Minor and one (1) Major holiday a year. Our Minor and Major holidays are:

Major Holidays

• Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day

Minor Holidays & Hard-to-Fill Shifts

• New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Juneteenth Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas Eve

Location Opportunities

All UMMS Staffing Center team members have the ability to flexibly schedule between the UMMS member organizations below based on their main region of support.

• Baltimore Metro Region (Must choose 3 locations): University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Campus, University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute, UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center, UM St. Joseph Medical Center, UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, UM Harford Memorial Hospital, UM Shore Regional Medical Center at Easton, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, UM Shore Medical Center at Cambridge.
• Southern Maryland Region: UM Capital Region Medical Center, UM Bowie Health Center, UM Laurel Medical Center, UM Charles Regional Medical Center.
• Our team members also have the opportunity to work within any of our 500+ ambulatory and outpatient clinics in addition to our inpatient facilities!
