Nursing Programs

ACE Program

The UMMS Academy of Clinical Essentials (ACE) revolutionizes nursing education by pairing students with UMMS-funded bedside nurses who act as instructors and mentors during weekly 12.5-hour shifts. This model enhances both new and existing nurses by integrating education directly into clinical practice.

Practice to Practicum (P3)

P3 allows nursing students to secure their first nursing job in their chosen unit before graduation at any UMMS clinical site. Applicants must interview and accept a clinical nurse position to participate in their senior practicum, ensuring a smooth transition into professional nursing practice.

RN STAT Program

The RN STAT Program at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC) offers scholarships and mentorship to individuals accepted into the College of Southern Maryland, aiming to support those interested in nursing careers. Eligible applicants include Charles County high school seniors, current UM CRMC employees, and adult learners from the Charles County community.

Student Nurse Program

The University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center provides nursing students who have finished their Fundamentals of Nursing course the chance to apply for a Student Nurse position. In this role, students work as part of the health care team in a hospital, starting with patient care in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) capacity. The position offers a flexible schedule to support students in balancing their academic requirements with gaining practical experience.
