General Summary:
This is a grant-funded role responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the Youth Apprenticeship and Workforce Development Program. The Program Coordinator plays a central role in overseeing program implementation, training, compliance, and partnership building, ensuring successful outcomes for youth apprentices entering healthcare careers.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel.
- Manage and coordinate all phases of the Youth Apprenticeship initiative.
- Oversee curriculum design, training plans, and program structure.
- Supervise and support the Workforce Development Specialist and Outreach & Enrollment Specialist.
- Collaborate with internal teams, educational institutions, and workforce agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance using data and success metrics.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements, timelines, and reporting.
- Facilitate partnerships with UMMC/UMMS and other healthcare organizations.
- Act as a key liaison with HR, funders, and community stakeholders.
- Track outcomes, including job placement, apprentice satisfaction, and employer feedback.
- Coordinate and manage budget elements of the apprenticeship initiative.
- Support outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with other staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Workforce Development, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or Clinical Education (Nursing) required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in workforce development or youth apprenticeship program coordination required
- Supervisory or team leadership experience required
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in a related field
- Experience in healthcare training environments
- Experience working with underserved youth or community-based programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools
- Familiarity with workforce development models and apprenticeship systems
- Project management experience
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines
- Experience with program evaluation and impact measurement
- Knowledge of grant-funded program compliance
- Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to analyze program data and report outcomes
- Collaboration and team-building skills
