General Summary:
This is a grant-funded position responsible for delivering direct career training and professional development to youth apprentices in healthcare careers. The Workforce Development Specialist ensures that participants receive essential career readiness, mentoring, and support throughout their apprenticeship journey.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel.
- Provide job readiness training and workshops for youth apprentices entering healthcare careers.
- Offer individualized career coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
- Develop curriculum on soft skills, workplace etiquette, and healthcare professionalism.
- Support apprentices in resume development, interview preparation, and job search techniques.
- Collaborate with HR, hiring managers, and clinical educators to align program with organizational workforce needs.
- Track progress of apprentices and ensure documentation is compliant with grant standards.
- Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new youth apprentices.
- Support program-wide events, orientations, and celebrations for apprentices.
- Ensure participant retention and assist with transition into permanent employment.
- Maintain accurate records of participant engagement, training sessions, and outcomes.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Workforce Development, Human Resources, Education, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Human Services, or Clinical Education (Nursing) required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in workforce training, career coaching, or youth development required.
- Experience supporting diverse and underserved youth populations required
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in a related field
- Experience in healthcare training environments
- Bilingual
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to mentor and engage young professionals
- Knowledge of workforce development best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems
- Ability to track data, prepare reports, and assess performance
- Cultural competence and community engagement skills
- Understanding of healthcare organizational structures and training pathways
- Ability to build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
