Job Description

Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Emergency Department (ED)
Full-time / Day-Shift (7:00am-7:30pm)
UM Charles Regional – La Plata, MD

 

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Emergency Department team in La Plata. In this critical role, you will work alongside nurses and physicians to provide essential patient care services in a fast-paced emergency setting.

  • Perform basic patient care activities including taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with patient mobility
  • Conduct EKG procedures and phlebotomy services as needed
  • Monitor and document patient conditions using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Assist nursing staff with patient care procedures and treatments
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
  • Transport patients to diagnostic testing and procedures
  • Stock medical supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient status

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid BLS/CPR certification required
  • Valid CNA license within the state of MD required 
  • Minimum of one year healthcare experience preferred
  • Emergency Department experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in taking vital signs, performing EKG procedures, and phlebotomy
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and emergency medical procedures
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Physical ability to assist with patient positioning and transport
  • Flexibility to work different shifts as needed

Compensation:

Pay Range: $17-$29.14/hour depending on prior experience
