Overview
Under general supervision performs complex analyses on a variety of sample types, utilizing independent judgment to generate acceptable test results. Performs as lead by managing workflow, mentoring others and serving as a clinical and technical resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently performs responsibilities of MLS I, MLS II and MLS III.
- Leads quality improvement initiatives as a member of a multi-disciplinary patient care services team. Develops and leads efforts to improve regulatory compliance within and beyond the department.
- Assists leadership team with interviewing, orienting, training and supervising. Provides input to leadership team for performance evaluations and corrective actions.
- Collaborates with leadership in identifying gaps and opportunities for professional development and strategic organizational initiatives. Facilitates in creating a positive departmental culture.
- Assists leadership in identification and resolution of complex clinical and operational issues.
- Responsible for regulatory and accreditation agency preparation and participation.
- Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences preferred; Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences or related field required or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with relevant experience required.
Experience: Five years of clinical laboratory experience required.
Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.
