Job Description

Clinical Dietitian Inpatient Adult

  1. Independently performs the nutrition care process, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation, specific to age and medical status.

  2. Provide medical nutrition therapy to adult inpatients at high nutrition risk (e.g. receiving enteral or parenteral nutrition) in a fast paced and high acuity clinical setting.
  3. In collaboration with team, develops an interdisciplinary nutrition plan of care for patients, within a specialty population, and attends rounds.
  4. Discusses plan of nutrition care with patient/and or family; electronically documents nutrition plan of care and education provided.
  5. Actively contributes to teamwork (cooperates with peers, flexible w/cross coverage) and achievement of department goals; attends staff meetings. 
  6. Provides education, training, and expertise as a professional resource to members of the healthcare team, as well as dietetic interns, to advance their development in the field.
  7. Attends and/or participates in various in-service, continuing education credits, and external training workshops, conferences and other relevant educational programs to maintain state licensure.  Utilizes and integrates evidence into practice.
  8. This position includes a weekend and on call rotation. All levels of experience welcome. Advanced certification not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics or related field is required.
  • Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) is required.
  • Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required.
  • 6 months of clinical experience is required as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Prior completion of a Specialty Fellowship Program or Specialty Certification: e.g. CNSC, CDE, CSR, CSP, CSO, IBCLC, etc. or achievement of MS is required. Maintenance of 30 CEUs/2 years is required
