Job Description

Under direct supervision of the on-site physician, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists physician and nursing staff with patient care and may perform clerical duties. Where electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the EMR for documentation purposes. Fulfillment of job duties requires the employee to have access to medication storage areas and to transport medications to/ from medication storage and delivery areas.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required (GED).
  2. Two years recent (within the last 12 months) outpatient and phlebotomy experience.
  3. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  4. American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.
  5. Prefer 10 hours per week availability

 

Working Conditions

  1. Primarily weekday, weekend, shift work, contingent on eligibility for special assignments. 40 hr/wk assignments.
  2. Work is primarily performed in a physician practice environment involving a high volume of public contact.
  3. Work requires lifting of medical records up to 25 pounds, approximately 20% of the time, and walking and standing approximately 75% of the time.
  4. Potential exposure to body fluids due to patient contact.
