A Clinical Education Coordinator coordinates and supports student placement activities across the organization in collaboration with academic partners and internal clinical leaders. This role serves as a key liaison between schools of all programs and clinical departments to ensure successful, timely, and compliant student clinical experiences. In addition to managing student placements, the coordinator supports the Center for Clinical Excellence in the delivery of new employee orientation, new graduate nurse residency programs, and ongoing clinical education efforts linked to recruitment and retention of staff. This role also plays a key part in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards related to clinical education and staff competency.
Primary Responsibilities
- Acts as primary liaison to Saint Joseph Medical Center in regard to local nursing schools and other clinical education programs.
- Coordinates clinical placements for students in collaboration with academic institutions and internal departments.
- Oversees all school-affiliated and contractual student placement; and initiates and facilitates affiliation agreements in partnership with University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and UMMS General Counsel.
- Manages and updates the Exxat student reservation platform to maintain accurate records of student schedules, documentation, and onboarding compliance.
- Communicates regularly with academic partners, hospital leadership, and unit managers to confirm placement needs, timelines, and expectations.
- Collaborates with unit and departmental leadership and preceptors to ensure student placement capacity, instructor readiness, and clinical learning alignment.
- Facilitates student and instructor onboarding processes, including background checks, health requirements, orientation scheduling, and compliance documentation.
- Reviews and updates clinical practice information in onboarding materials for students and instructors.
- Supports UMMS student and preceptor strategic initiatives to advance academic partnerships locally and systemwide.
- Coordinates and supports practicum placements, ACE (Academic Clinical Educator) programs, and the P-3 Program, including candidate support and interview scheduling with managers.
- Assists in recruiting hospital employees to serve as ACE instructors in partnership with Nursing Leadership.
- Supports the planning and facilitation of new employee orientation and new graduate nurse residency programs in collaboration with the Center for Clinical Excellence.
- Prepares and maintains educational materials, rosters, and communication for orientation and residency programs, as needed.
- Ensures Joint Commission compliance in all areas related to clinical education, student coordination, and instructor onboarding.
- Tracks and reports data for student placements, social accountability, program evaluations, and onboarding participation to support continuous quality improvement and strategic planning.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- 4 year / Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- Experience in academic partnership coordination, new hire onboarding, or residency program support is preferred.

Pay Range: $27.44-$38.41
