ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of nursing standards within the departments, implements changes as needed to provide quality patient care, and evaluates and adjusts staffing assignments according to acuity and required patient care
- Maintains fiscal responsibility and operates within defined parameters.
- Assists with the preparation of operational and capital budgets, and continually manages financial resources to obtain maximum performance.
- Directs, organizes, delegates, and performs a variety of personnel functions, including the interviewing, hiring, evaluating performance, coaching, and disciplining of employees.
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other system staff to resolve problems, and promotes harmonious relationships within the System.
- Participates in the development and review of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with all appropriate professional organization standards and all appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Professional standards and current research/evidence-based practice drive decision-making.
- Fosters a climate conducive to educational experiences for Shore Health System employees and students.
- Attends System meetings and activities, as well as external agencies and organizations as assigned.
- Participates in performance improvement projects throughout the System.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland. BSN preferred, certification in nursing specialty/nursing administration upon eligibility. Health Care Provider BLS. Certification required. Minimum three years current management experience.
