In these unprecedented times, University of Maryland Medical System is taking important steps to support our patients, community and employees.  In response to Governor Larry Hogan’s call for 6,000 new hospital beds to ensure Maryland is prepared and ready to treat a potential surge in patients with COVID-19, the University of Maryland Medical System is putting together an Emergency Staffing Pool.

The ONE UMMS Emergency Staffing Pool is a Temporary Per Diem/PRN float pool that will allow us to deploy resources to all 16-member hospitals in the medical system as well as the Federal Medical Station located at the Baltimore Convention Center, and other pop-up medical care facilities in the area. Whether you’re new to healthcare, experienced or anywhere in between your skills may be needed. If you have nursing experience or clinical skills you can help defend your community.

Be a part of something greater. As we all do our part and work together during this unprecedented situation, we want to let you know that our UMMS recruitment team is still here, and ready to connect with job seekers who are looking for work and want to lend a helping hand during this time. Check out our opportunities below for more information.

Licensed Clinical Professional Pools

We have opportunities available for those that currently have a clinical license and want to provide ad hoc assistance and support in a clinical capacity as needed to the full extent of their clinical licensure.

Example Roles:

Registered Nurse (RN)
Clinical Pharmacist
Clinical Professional: This role is for all other clinical professionals outside of RNs and Pharmacists such as Case Managers, Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, etc.

Clinical Support Pool

Those hired into this role will provide broad clinical support and patient care as needed to support the Clinical Professional Pool. Example roles may include Nursing Assistant, Observer/Sitter, Medical Assistant, etc.

Those with direct patient care experience should apply to this role. This includes nursing students, medical students and students pursuing other healthcare professions.

Support Services Pool

Those hired into this role will support the Clinical Professional and Clinical Support staff, and provide a broad range of operational support in areas outside of direct patient care such as Patient Transport, Food Services, Environmental Services, Guest Services and Clerical/Administrative support.

If you do not have direct patient care experience and want to lend a helping hand, this is the role for you!

At this time, UMMS has filled its current staffing needs and is no longer accepting applications for the Staffing Pool. We will update this site with additional opportunities as they become available.
