Job Description

Security Supervisor, full time, 11PM – 7:30AM, every other weekend

JOB SUMMARY: Protects the hospital, its assets, patients, team members and visitors.  Patrols hospital and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and other crimes.  Unlocks and secures hospital buildings and offices.  Responds to security needs of hospital team members, physicians, patients and visitors.  Supervises security officers and provides performance feedback to the Director.  Resolves issues among the team regarding operational matters. Interacts with patients, families and visitors ranging in age from newborn to the elderly.

Qualifications

Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalency is required. Active BLS certification is required.  Associate’s degree or higher preferred.  Must obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within one (1) year from date of hire. 

Work Orientation & Experience: Five (5) years of related experience (military, security, law enforcement, etc.)   Any combination of education, experience and training may be substituted for this requirement.

Skills & Abilities:  Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret security reports.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in a variety of situations. Must be able to interpret a range of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.  Must be able to work well under pressure during emergency situations.  Must possess outstanding service excellence skills.  Must be able to intervene with physically aggressive individuals. Must be able to make independent decisions and direct the work of others.
