- Performs various therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to improve and/or measure patients’ cardio/respiratory functions.
- Reviews patient’s chart; prescribes; assures therapeutic and diagnostic procedures are performed in accordance with physician orders.
- Charts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Initiates, discontinues, or modifies procedures; determines validity of test results based on assessment of patient condition; follows parameters set by the Medical Consultant.
- Evaluates therapeutic progress; records results of diagnostic measures; communicates evaluations and results to other members of the health care team.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Associates Degree in Respiratory Care or Cardiopulmonary Technology, Bachelors preferred. 3 years respiratory therapy experience required. Registration as a Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) and Maryland State Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Current certification in Neonatal Advanced Life Support and BLS and cleared to perform intubations. Current certification or registry in pulmonary function (CPFT or RPFT). Training in electronics and basic computer operations desirable.
