Job Description

I. General Summary

Under the supervision of the Director, Informatics Training and Communication, the Informatics Communications Specialist is responsible for writing, editing, and/or acquiring content for internal communications for UMMS. This position works in collaboration with the UMMS Informatics Training Team and is also responsible for updating content on the intranet content management systems (CMS) for the UMMS and adhering to production deadlines for these updates.

II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • Manages communications through writing, editing and research support for internal communications.
  • Responsible for managing intranet maintenance of the UMMS intranet, including uploading edited or new material directly to the site.

Qualifications

III. Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Business or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently; exceptional organizational skills.
  • PC skill in word processing is required with proficiency in utilizing Word and other Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the internet and HTML required. Experience working with one or more web content management systems (CMS) such as SiteCore preferred.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills including editing skills are expected.
