The UMMC Respiratory Care team is currently looking for a skilled respiratory therapy leader to promote into a manager role. Qualified candidates must have broad critical care skills with exposure to neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations being preferred. The role will manage daily needs of the respiratory care staff, assist with staff education, policy review, interdisciplinary program support, documentation and billing review, research and abstract preparation, performance evaluations, time and attendance, staff scheduling, and many other operational functions. Candidates will need to have experience communicating with physician and administrative leaders. Strong interdisciplinary team building skills are essential for success. Clinical support of patient care will be required as needed.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s Degree program completion or enrollment preferred (enrollment would be required within 1 year of position acceptance). Graduate from an AMA approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy is required. Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Therapist is required. Advanced NBRC credentials in respiratory care are preferred. CPR certification is required. ACLS and/or PALS certification is preferred. Five years experience as a respiratory therapist is required with 3 years additional experience in a leadership role. Candidates must have demonstrated an excellence in customer service, professional advancement and teamwork, and be prepared to highlight their accomplishments during the interview process. Licensure as a Respiratory Care practitioner by the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required.
Individuals will work 5 days per week with hours primarily scheduled to support the nightshift staff. Weekend and holiday administrative on –call will be assigned. Flexibility in scheduling will be necessary to manage required meetings on both shifts and project deadlines.
