OD&I Consultant

General Summary
Under limited supervision delivers organization development, organizational learning, and cultural competence and inclusion services for the University of Maryland Medical System. 

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

• Under the guidance of an OD&I Director, supports the implementation of the OD&I strategy in support of the University of Maryland Medical System and Human Resource Services strategies.
• Assigned to provide services at multiple hospitals across a geographic region within the University of Maryland Medical System. 
• Consults with Managers and Supervisors of assigned Local Hospitals. Travels to any UMMS hospital as necessary to provide service delivery.
• Under the guidance of a Director or Senior Consultant, delivers organization development, organizational learning, and cultural competence services at assigned hospitals.
• Collaborates with and supports other Human Resource Services employees in the attainment of strategic objectives.

ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT

• Under the guidance of a Director or Senior Consultant, supports system-wide OD initiatives including: strategic and operational planning; change management; organizational culture and values; talent review and succession planning; leadership development and coaching; surveys and analytics; performance management; and group effectiveness.
• Under the guidance of a Director or Senior Consultant, supports consulting engagements at Local Hospitals.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING

• Under the guidance of a Director or Senior Consultant, supports system-wide learning initiatives including: needs assessment; curricula development and learning paths; management and employee development; orientation and annual training; career and development planning; learning design, delivery and evaluation; and trainer development.
• Under the guidance of a Senior Consultant, implements, analyzes, and reports on a periodic learning needs assessment in support of management and employee development.
• Under the guidance of a Senior Consultant, develops and implements curricula and learning paths for management and employee development.

CULTURAL COMPETENCE

• Supports the implementation of the system-wide Cultural Competence & Inclusion strategy in support of the UMMS strategy.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Organization Development, Human Resource Development, I/O Psychology, Organizational Behavior, or commensurate field required. 
• A minimum of two (2) years relevant professional experience in organization development, organizational learning, or cultural competence.
• Demonstrated experience as an organization development /management consultant (internal or external) preferred. 
• Hospital industry experience preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated proficiency in the fundamental concepts, principles, practices and procedures related to organization development, organizational learning, and cultural competence.
• Demonstrated experience forging relationships and consulting with leaders including Manager and Supervisor levels.
• Advanced personal computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Other important computer skills include: email, web browsing and search, learning management system.
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required to work successfully with employees at all levels in the organization.
• Maintain professional affiliations as appropriate, and participates in professional activities, to keep abreast of developments in education, training and development.
