University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is the principal provider of comprehensive health care services for more than 170,000 residents of Maryland's Eastern Shore. UM Shore Regional Health operates three hospitals, a freestanding emergency center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, outpatient care centers and home care services throughout the region.
Lead the HR department to live UM SRH's mission - Creating Healthier Communities Together.
Develops and implements a proactive and progressive workforce relations strategy designed to engage the workforce and improve collaboration between employees and managers. Manage a team of generalists and recruiters in order to support UMMS management/employees on all workforce issues such as employee relations, recruitment, employee recognition and rewards, employee activities, diversity, EEO, worker’s compensation, employee advocacy and conflict resolution, organization design/organization effectiveness, policy development/interpretation, performance management, etc. Serves as member of HR leadership team providing expertise on Labor/Employee Relations.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university required. A Master’s Degree in Industrial/Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, or related field preferred. Professional certification as PHR or SPHR through SHRM preferred. In depth knowledge of state and federal employment laws including the National Labor Relations Act.
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing and directing the activities of professional and/or managerial level human resources staff required. This experience should reflect a strong and diverse generalist background to include both employee and labor relations.
Successful union avoidable experience is highly preferred, with knowledge of labor activities in a healthcare environment.
Strong customer excellence orientation, good interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills are required to work effectively with various levels of employees and management staff. Must also possess demonstrated effective collaborative skills in working with other HR functions to achieve organizational objectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead others through influence, collaboration and change management.
The successful candidate for this job will have an understanding of quality process improvement principles, participative management practices, systems perspective and learning organization principles as a foundation for proactive and positive employee relations.
