What You Will Do:

University of Maryland Medical System- Midtown Campus is seeking candidates for its 2018-2019 Student Nurses Internship Program (SNIP). This program is for nursing students completing their sophomore and junior year as of May 2018. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to gain valuable work experience while finishing school.

Program Purpose
•SNIP participants hold paid positions on hospital inpatient units;
•Participants will be paired with preceptors and receive real world on the job experience;
•SNIPs have the opportunity to develop professional working relationships while in school;
•After the successful completion of their internship, participants are offered an opportunity to interview for a position on their unit.

Minimum Criteria
•Must have and maintain a minimum of GPA of 2.5
•CNA certified as of May 30, 2018
•Current CPR Card with American Heart Association
•Available to work full time 36- 40 hours per week in the summer and semester break and a minimum of 16 hours and maximum of 32 hours/month during the school year semester.

•Written recommendation letter from a Clinical Instructor
•Students must have a current CPR card through American Heart Association
•Students must be able to qualify and receive CNA license before start date
•An essay, 500 words or less, of why you want to work at UM Midtown Campus
•In your essay, list in order of preference, any 3 of the following units:
• Choice of: ED, Post -Acute, Medical, Psych, Med-Surg

Approval process
•A completed packet does not guarantee an interview.
•Must submit completed application packet to University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus via website by April 20, 2018.
•All approved applicants will be contacted no later than May 9, 2018.

What You Need to Be Successful:

High school graduate or GED required.
Currently enrolled in a Nursing Academic Program (BSN, AA or Diploma), with good academic standing.
Computer skills required; minimum of keyboard skills.
Positive interpersonal/communication skills.
