What You Will Do:

The University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist in the Core Lab with a desire to Be Something Greater!  

About Us:

Our Core Lab applies its knowledge of the mechanisms of disease to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Research, education, and clinical activities are conducted in cooperation with other clinical departments, the Shock Trauma Center, and the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.

As a Medical Lab Scientist, under direct supervision, you'll perform complex analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintain proper records and utilize resources to generate acceptable test results.  Function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.  Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions.  Actively learn to troubleshoot and resolve problems and documents corrective actions.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences or related field required.
  2. Must be eligible for certification by a nationally recognized program, e.g. ASCP or equivalent.  Must be certified within 12 months of employment.
  3. Successful completion of NACCLS accredited clinical rotation or at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in an accredited hospital or reference laboratory setting.
