**This is a remote position, however candidates must be local and able to attend onsite meetings.
Candidates must have 2+ years Inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting. Certification (CCS, CPC-H, or RHIT) preferred.
The Coding Specialist II abstracts data from electronic medical records into computerized databases to provide accurate and timely information for reimbursement. This individual will also assign codes to ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT procedures according to ICD-10, CPT, Coding Clinic, Internal and Official Coding Guidelines. Gives guidance to Coding Specialist I.
What You Need to Be Successful:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
2 year Associate's Degree: Business preferred.
Vocational / Technical Degree is required.
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience and Skills
2 - 4 years medical coding experience is required.
2 - 4 years working knowledge of medical terminology, basic coding skills including familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT coding is required.
4 - 6 years of previous Inpatient coding experience and pharmacology is preferred.
4 - 6 years strong understanding of ICD-9CM, Advanced CPT coding and Grouper experience is preferred.
Required skills: basic computer skills, excellent organizational skills, demonstrated high degree of coding accuracy, excellent data entry skills.
