What You Will Do:

Registers patients as they present to the Admitting Office.  Keeps track of patients as they arrive via ambulance, car, or walk into the Admitting Office.. Demonstrates excellent customer relation skills particularly in dealing with patients in distress. Adheres to all financial and departmental policies and procedures consistent with the Hospital’s Mission, Vision, and Value statement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.) Welcomes all patients and family in a courteous and prompt manner. Interviews patients and/or relatives recording all demographic, financial, and clinical information to assure that patients are provided service in a timely manner.

2.) Assumes responsibility for evaluating insurance coverage by utilizing  all available tools such as EVS, HDX, Highmark Medicare IVR, web-enables and tele-processing verification tools documenting all ascertained information in BAR (Billing/Accounts Receivable).

3.) Collects payment at point of service following department’s cash collection policy

4.) Maintains the integrity of the Admitting Office Log keeps track of patients in the waiting room and facilitates patient flow.

5.) Processes all Express Registrations verifying information, obtaining signatures, affixing patient identification band and directing patients to the department and activating the account.  Refers appropriate patients to the Patient Representative for benefit verification and authorization

6.) Pre-registers all assigned patients in Meditech verifying insurance by utilizing all available tools following payer requirements.

7.) Documents all accounts in BAR for follow up by Patient Accounting.

8.) Takes responsibility to be at work station on time and maintains a maximum attendance in accordance to the Hospital’s attendance policy. Demonstrates flexibility in work hours, covers for other shifts/areas in order to meet department’s needs.

9.) Adheres to and demonstrates standards of Service Excellence in dress code, environment, systems, and processes particularly in  face to face interaction with customers. Notifies supervisor of active or potential customer service issues.

10.) Performs duties and tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Minimum high school diploma, typing 35 wpm medical terminology
