What You Will Do:
Quality Management Senior Business Intelligence Analyst Under limited supervision works collaboratively with University of Maryland System leaders and System hospitalsproviding expertise to acquire, manage, manipulate, and analyze data and report results on clinical outcomes, compliance and standards of care. Analyst provides advanced design, development, maintenance, documentation, and support for System clinical quality reporting applications. This position is also responsible for understanding and applying key business concepts in the development of reports, dashboards, analytics, data mining, and other functions in order to provide historical, current and predictive views of the business. Ensures data integrity and security
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Produces dashboards and reports to support System and facility performance improvement efforts.
Analyzes business data and transforms it into meaningful and useful information for business owners utilizing Business Intelligence technologies
When quality opportunities are identified, conducts research on benchmarking to determine the best course of action to correct and validate comparison quality data.
Analyzes and problem solves issues with current and planned computer systems as they relate to the integration and management of quality data
Performs basic statistical analyses for projects and reports.
Acquires and abstracts primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources (internal or national databases).
Develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
Monitors for timely and accurate communication of select data elements from System hospitals, validates data to ensure accuracy.
Develops and maintains databases, (MS Access and Vendor Software), data systems necessary for quality reporting.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's in Information Management, Healthcare Information, Computing, Mathematics, Statistics, or related equivalent field is required.
Five (5) years of experience in data analysis is required.
Two (2) years of experience managing financial and clinical databases including case mix files, cost accounting files, and severity indexed files required
Relevant experience in training individuals in software applications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective critical thinking; and written and oral communications skills. Communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external customers including colleagues, Medical Staff and liaisons.
Knowledge of statistics to communicate easily with statisticians.
Knowledge of data mining techniques and procedures and when their use is appropriate preferred.
Demonstrate knowledge of analysis methodology; and project and work planning.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Demonstrate ability to work with various software programs; work with data management technique/systems; demonstrated skills in database software applications and report generation. Adept at queries and report writing. Programming skills preferred.
Prioritize work assignments and manage time effectively to complete duties; assess, adapt and calmly respond to changing and/or crisis environment; and make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures and standards.
