What You Will Do:
Under limited supervision, the Cardiac Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing complete and optimally diagnostic ultrasound exams, including 2D/M Mode, Doppler color flow, and trans-esophageal echocardiography. The technician must have knowledge of anatomy and physiology and have the ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological area. The technician must be able to record the exam, perform measurements, and be able to recognize abnormal conditions which need to be reported to the physician urgently. The Cardiac Ultrasound Technician is a member of the Cardiac Care team, and has accountability to function as a team in order to assist the patient in accomplishing goals set by the Clinical pathway. The technician provides care according to established standards. Patients served include adults and adult geriatrics.
What You Need to Be Successful:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of ultrasound course, to include clinical experience required. On the job clinical experience with an experienced sonographer may be substituted for above experience requirement. Previous cardiac ultrasound experience preferred. Registered in ARDMS (or other equivalent organization) required. RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) required and current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
