What You Will Do:

Student Nurse Resident

The University of Maryland Medical Center’s Student Nurse Residency Program is designed to enhance and foster the professional growth of the student nurse throughout his or her senior year of nursing school. Each BSN student nurse works one-on-one with a unit preceptor for 36 hours a week.

Core areas of focus include:

- enhancing clinical competence & critical thinking skills

- gaining knowledge and confidence through clinical collaboration

- assisting with the formation of realistic expectations of self and clinical staff

To be considered, each student must also complete a residency application form and an on-line application.  Go to http://www.umm.edu/professionals/nursing/education/nursing-student-programs  to obtain the application and recommendation forms.

Each student must have completed the basic Fundamentals and Health Assessment courses by the beginning of the residency program, hold a Maryland State CNA license, be enrolled in a BSN program and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Only those graduating in December 2018 or May 2019 will be considered.  You must be a Maryland resident to apply.

The deadline for applications is December 15, 2017.

Group Assessments and Writing Prompt will be held in January. Hiring decisions will be made by the third week of February, 2017.  The program runs from June 4th – August 10th 2018.

 

 



What You Need to Be Successful:
