What You Will Do:

UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center, a member of University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join an established practice. The practice will provide services in Glen Burnie, Pasadena, and Hanover.

Unit Specifics:

  • 4 LDRP’s with plans to expand
  • 15 Antepartum
  • Level II Nursery
  • EPIC EMR with Stork

Job Specifics:

  • Full Scope Midwifery
  • See patients in the outpatient practice as well as serve as a laborist at the hospital
  • Practice of 6 OB/GYN physicians and 10 CNM’s
  • Flexible call which is self-scheduled by CNM’s
    • Per Diem CNM’s assist with weekend call
  • First assist experience preferred
  • Must be willing to be trained in
    • First Assist
    • Circumcisions
    • Centering Pregnancy
  • Health system employee

What You Need to Be Successful:

Education and Experience

  1. Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Certified Nurse Midwifery Program required.

  2. Current state licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife or eligible required, certified in area of specialty.

  3. Minimum of two (2) years acute care experience required. Meets requirements to maintain clinical privileges as a member of the UMCMG Medical Staff.

   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.  Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs. 

  2. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.  Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills.

  3. Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.

  4. Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.
