What You Will Do:

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Lead and supervise the daily performance of all related mechanics. Perform preventive maintenance and urgent, corrective and routine repairs throughout the facility. Assist in matters of performance reviews and discipline. Assist in budget development, planning, and training of personnel in their general and specific duties, safety and effective management.

 

ESSSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

  1. Specific Duties:  Supervises the operation, maintenance and repair of assigned hospital equipment and systems:

 

  1. Supervises the preventive maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the hospital. Monitoring its application to assure maximum effectiveness and provide appropriate documentation.
  2. Monitors departmental personnel matters and makes recommendations.
  3. Supervises scheduling of department personnel. Directs the grievances of employees to the Facilities Management Director for final disposition.
  4. Utilizes computer system to monitor, hospital work order system in an efficient manner.

 

  1. Supervision:  Recommends, schedules and supervises specialty outside contractors working on hospital equipment within his/her area of responsibility as circumstances indicates:

 

  1. Provides training for employees in the proper operation and maintenance of related ancillary equipment and systems.
  2. Works closely with other departments and administration. Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, create job assignments, orders materials, supplies and parts.
  3. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.

 

  1. Project Management:  Provides direction to assigned personnel.

 

  1. Oversees the requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and facility.
  2. Reports to the Director of Facilities as to the general condition of hospital facilities and the general progress of work being accomplished.
  3. Reviews maintenance requests and schedules work tasks for maintenance technicians checking to see that they are properly executed within a reasonable length of time. This includes requisitioned, corrective and emergency maintenance. Ensures that work sites are left clean and that tools are returned to Maintenance Shop. Makes periodic inspections, noting general condition and keeps the Director informed as to the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital, well maintained condition.
  4. Performs requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical, H.V.A.C, plumbing, medical gas systems, and building structures as required. Responsible for inspecting, calibrating, adjusting, lubricating and repairing or replacing components as necessary. Maintains records of maintenance repairs.
  5. Assists in maintaining records to ensure compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission regulations.
  6. Establishes or adjusts work schedules to meet the needs of the Facility.

 

  1. General Duties:  Performs related duties as required or assigned.

 

  1. Functions with an awareness and application of safety, legal, and emergency standards as identified within the institution.
  2. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, seeking guidance when appropriate.
  3. Assumes responsibility for job duties and is accountable for own actions.


What You Need to Be Successful:

 MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience including at least 1 year of supervisory experience (Required)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) (Required)
  • HVAC or Plumbing Journeyman in the State of Maryland (Highly Preferred)
  • Valid Maryland driver’s license, which must be maintained. (Required)
