University of Maryland Medical Center, a Magnet designated facility in Downtown Baltimore, Maryland is the location for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center (STC).  The Shock Trauma Center has PARC Designation with missions as the Echelon or adult trauma care for Maryland as well as the specialty referral center for head and spinal cord injury, and Hyperbaric Therapy.  Considered the worldwide leader in trauma care, the Shock Trauma Center is the highest volume trauma center in the United States with 14 units, an impressive survival rate of 97% and is proud to stand as a cornerstone of Maryland’s Emergency Medical Services Trauma System.  

UMMC is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager is accountable for the delivery of patient care services which support the strategic plan of the organization, and achieves clinical, financial and service quality objectives in one or more clinical units or care delivery sites. The role is accountable for the quality of clinical services delivered; for the competency and performance of nursing, and other clinical staff, and for designing and maintaining systems to support multidisciplinary team functioning and continuity of services. The Manager also serves as a key participant in organizational project teams and work groups. The authorized FTEs for management of these three units is 67.09 FTEs and 36 beds (3-12 bed units)

What You Need to Be Successful:


• BSN Degree is required; A Masters degree is required with management coursework preferred, or must be enrolled in a Master's program.

• A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience is required.

• Demonstrated success in a clinical leadership role is required.

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or eligibility for licensure due to Compact State agreements outlined through the Maryland Board of Nursing is required.
