What you Will Do:
The Director of Perioperative Nursing at UMMC will lead our perioperative department and its teams in the delivery of quality and safety centered care. The director will be involved in the development of management teams, staff, and programs and act as a collaborative partner between departments in support our staffas they care for patients across the perioperative continuum.
The Director of Perioperative Nursing will lead the staff servicing patients in our more than 35 operating room suites spanning our general, trauma and cardiac ORs. Our technologically advanced department includes a full support pre and post op PACU unit, minimally invasive procedural areas, specialized inpatient procedural areas, and sterile processing.
The director’s span of control will include pre and post-operative care, sterile processing, and other units that act in support of the operating rooms.
Act as a strategic partner with the VP of Perioperative Nursing in collaborating with hospital partners, physicians, and the physician led surgical teams.
Develop management teams to form training programs for new staff, educate current staff to new services, and devise programs to ensure successful outcomes.
Act as an innovative and strategic partner to the hospital, collaborating with outside departments to improve patient satisfaction in the perioperative departments.

What You Need to Be Successful:
Six years of experience in the field of nursing is required, experience in an Academic Medical Center or large acute care setting is preferred.
Three years of management experience leading a surgical or perioperative department is required.
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Graduate preparation in management is preferred.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact State agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
