UMMC Midtown is seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant for Peds:
1. Obtains appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition and obtains vital signs. 2. Performs procedures under the supervision of the Employee Health Nurse or Family Health Center Physician and assists with examinations as needed. 3. Administers medications, including injections, under the Employer Health Nurse’s or Family Health Center Physician’s supervision in a safe and efficient manner. 4. Maintains organized records of all patient visits. Ensures that all treatments administered are documented appropriately; maintain patient confidentiality. 5. Performs veni-puncture according to set standards. Accurately collects and labels specimens and ensures that they are sent to the correct lab with all lab requisitions completed appropriately. Performs in-house lab procedures in accordance with written guidelines. 6. Performs ancillary, Fit and PPD testing according to written standards. 7. Assists with pre-employment screening process of potential new hires. Reports issues to the Employee Health Nurse or Family Health Center Physician when necessary. 8. Performs all clerical/administrative duties. 9. Screens telephone calls according to written guidelines for message transmission and for lab and ancillary testing protocols. Calls in prescription refills under the written orders of the physician and according to written guidelines. 10. Adheres to OSHA’s guidelines and Maryland General Hospital’s Exposure Control Plan for exposure to blood and body fluids. Maintain vaccination/exposure follow-up remdiners. 11. Maintains an adequate amount of materials in the exam rooms ensuring no shortages. Ensure all medical equipment is in proper working order, reporting defective equipment immediately to the Employee Health Manager.
What You Need to Be Successful:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required. 3. Demonstrated skill in venipuncture. 4. CPR certification required.
