As an integral part of this 19 physician practice and team of Advanced Care practitioners with specialties in spine, joint replacement, shoulder, hand, foot, sports medicine and general orthopaedics, this position focuses on the management of the orthopaedic patient in the office with the opportunity to deliver patient care independently as well as working in the OR as a first assistant. The PA or NP will work predominately with 1 high volume adult reconstruction surgeon. The NP or PA will provide high quality medical care to the Orthopaedics patient of UM, SJMC, but may also provide services in external clinical setting. Patient History and Physical exams will be performed. The NP or PA will evaluate the medical status of patients under physician's supervision. Document findings on appropriate designated forms. Write orders and perform a series of medical procedures under the supervision of a physician. Evaluate and trea office patients independently. Assess, evaluate and treat orthopaedic and/or spine disorders. Order appropriate studies. Communicate information to the appropriate attending physician. Perform daily evaluations, wound check, bandage change, writing orders, completely document information in the patient's chart including discharge and transfer summaries
What You Need to Be Successful:
1-2 years experience as a PA or NP in an Orthopaedics setting. Equally comfortable in a high volume office, visiting patients on the unit and assisting in the operating room.
