What You Will Do:

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for an experienced Senior Certified Medical Dosimetrist to join the team at the Maryland Proton Therapy Center

What You Will Do:

Under limited supervision, provides comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. The dosimetrist will work closely with physicians, radiation therapists, and medical physicists to generate optimal treatment plans for our patients. The department also operates a dosimetry school and the candidate will have an opportunity to teach dosimetry students that are enrolled in this program. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the clinical team

  • Computes dose distributions and generates isodose curves for external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy in accordance with departmental procedures and generally accepted dosimetry practices.
  • Participates in complex situations, localization and immobilization procedures and fabrication of custom treatment devices.
  • Designs and implements quality assurance procedures in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Provides support to physicists in dosimetry calibration, QA and new procedures.
  • Coordinates/participates in brachytherapy procedures.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the dosimetry staff in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
 


What You Need to Be Successful:

• A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in physics or related fields required; or graduation from an approved Medical Dosimetry Program through the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) is required. 

• Certification by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) is required. 

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Dosimetrist in a Clinical Radiation Therapy department is required. In addition to professional qualifications good communication skills, initiative, and team spirit are essential to this position. 

• Experience with Eclipse/ARIA, RayStation, IMRT, IGRT preferable.
