What You Will Do:
Under general supervision, performs microscopic evaluation of cellular material from all body sites to determine normal and abnormal cellular changes including but not limited to malignant neoplasms, precancerous lesions, infectious agents and inflammatory processes.
Possess the technical skills required for FNA assistance and a wide variety of cytological specimen preparations including liquid based preparation. Performs complex analyses on a variety of sample types.
Have a basic knowledge of contemporary procedures and technologies. Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgment.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology, Basic Sciences or other related field. If degree is in an allied field of study, completion of an accredited cytology program is required; or Certification in Cytotechnology by a certification agency approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathology
ASCP certification and at least 3-years experience in an accredited laboratory or hospital. Eligibility for certification in cytotechnology by American Society of Clinical Pathology will be considered.
