What You Will Do:

The Director of Practice Operations oversees the operations and financial performance of identified practices. Oversees the implementation and optimization of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to drive transformation of care and ensure compliance. Directs the development of and ongoing maintenance of administrative and operational policies and procedures for the entire Physician Enterprise.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.  These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

 I.  Oversees the operations of identified practices

  1. Identifies and achieves operational goals and objectives for the Practices.
  2. Prepares reports to reflect the performance of the Center on relevant operational activities, including volume, financial performance, and staff productivity.
  3. Collaborates with the Director, Business Development and Medical Directors to develop annual capital and operating budgets; monitors budgets and identifies significant variances.

II.  Management of Community-based EMR.
  1. Oversees and manages prioritization of new implementations, incremental builds, enhancement and optimizations.
  2. Oversees the EMR and reporting components of Meaningful Use and other applicable Pay for Performance programs.
  3. Manages compliance

III.  With input from applicable Physician Enterprise Directors, directs the development and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-wide administrative and operational policies and procedures related to: (not intended to be an exhaustive list).
  1. Non-provider clinical competencies
  2. Service standards
  3. Patient satisfaction
  4. Staffing ratios
  5. Practice PoliciesMedical Records - Release of Information, Inclement weather/holidays/closing offices, Financial policies,  Education and Training

What You Need to Be Successful:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare, or a related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.

 Five (5) years practice management experience required with extensive knowledge and exposure to electronic medical record implementations and pay for performance programs.

Valid Maryland driver’s license required 

IV.         Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.
