Under the supervision of the department general supervisor, participates in the organization, supervision and direct testing of patient specimens in one or more departments within the Laboratory. This position requires practical as well as theoretical knowledge of test methodologies, which assist the medical staff in the diagnosis and management of disease and medical disorders. This position requires coordination, communication, employee evaluation and team building skills. Patient contact and specimens from patients may include infants to adult-geriatric.
What You Need to Be Successful:
B.S. degree in Medical Technology, or chemical, physical or biological science and 1 year training / experience in high complexity testing or equivalent experience and one year experience as a Medical Technologist. MT registered by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent registry – preferred or Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent registry – required, and three years experience as an MLT in high complexity testing. Knowledge of various laboratory instrumentation required. Proficient communication skills required. Ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations.
