UM BWMC is seeking a Stationary Engineer 1st Grade on the evening shift (3:30pm-11pm)

Under moderate supervision of the Lead Stationary Engineer and under general supervision of the Chief Stationary Engineer, operates and maintains the central plant and related systems. Assumes the responsibilities of the Chief Stationary Engineer in his/her absence.

  • Operates boilers, chillers, pumps, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Utilizes computer system to monitor, adjust, graph, and regulate hospital environment support equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Understands the operation of the hospital main 13,200V feeders and 480V switchgear.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the emergency power generators and emergency power distribution.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on central plant and auxiliary equipment.
  • Performs maintenance to hospital buildings and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintains records of repairs and preventive maintenance as required.
  • Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, repairs or replaces components as necessary.
  • Makes rounds of plant and machine rooms and keeps accurate logs of readings taken.
  • Logs, calculates, and reviews operating logs and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and observes all safety precautions.

What You Need to Be Successful:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Valid Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineers license which must be kept current. Maryland driver’s license which must be kept current and in good standing. Two years experience in the operation and maintenance of central utility system equipment required.
