UM SJMC is seeking a Pathology Assistant II - PT/Evenings  to provide comprehensive analysis and processing of all surgical specimens in an organized and systematic manner according to departmental policy and standards. 

CLERICAL:
Consistently utilizes appropriate record keeping and participates in accurate filing and maintenance of records. Consistently and professionally procures and processes all documents for the performance of autopsy and fetal disposition.

EQUIPMENT UTILIZATION:
Consistently uses cryostat correctly and is able to section tissues, stain and mount a properly labeled slide for frozen section.

SPECIMEN PROCESSING:
Concisely and accurately examines the specimen and dictates the gross description following a standardized protocol. Consistently takes the appropriate sections according to specimen type using previously established guidelines. Accurately performed additional steps on tissue as dictated by tissue, clinical history, pre-op diagnosis, and / or tissue type, i.e., flow cytometry, touch preps, margins, and cytology correlation.

 
 



What You Need to Be Successful:

Education

  •  4 year / Bachelor's Degree: (Required) 
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required) Master Science, Pathology Assistant program

Experience and Skills

  •  2 - 4 years related experience (Required)
