Currently, UM Shore Regional Health@ Dorchester is seeking a Certified LGSW or RN as a Behavioral Health - Response Team Clinician to perform behavioral health assessments, triage, and referral services in the Emergancy Department in consultation with ED Doctors.

 ***LGSW or LCPC or RN or Licensed Certified Nurse Clinical Specialist and Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Behavioral Health setting is REQUIRED***

Shift:  - Rotating 12hr shifts (8p-8a and 11a-11p)

Essential Job functions:
  • Assessment, evaluation and triage of patients with behavioral health care needs presenting to the Emergency Department including but not limited to: psychiatric and substance abuse problems, victims of domestic violence or physical assault. Provides supportive care to families of patients in crisis or at the time of death. Serves as part of the psychiatric resource team for patients with behavioral health problems on inpatient units.
  • Serves as a member of a psychiatric resource team providing assessments, crisis intervention, consultation and referral services throughout designated hospital units.
  • Serves as a nursing consultant for patients on the medical detoxification critical pathway on designated hospital units.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and fundamental skills necessary to organize, prioritize and delivery age specific care in a safe and appropriate environment.
  • Provides supportive care to families of patients in crisis or at time of death as needed throughout designated hospital units.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other behavioral network staff to resolve problems and promote harmonious relationships.
  • Communicates in an effective and professional manner, demonstrating respect for patients, families/significant other and other health team members.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Licensed Certified Masters of Social Work (LGSW), Licensed Certified Nurse Clinical Specialist, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) , Lecenced Registered Nurse (RN) that meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland.
  • 3 years of direct Behavioral Health patient care experience.
  • The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served. 
  • He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/here age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
