What You Will Do:

University of Maryland Medical System is currently seeking a Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D) to join our outpatient Mental Health Clinic at our UM Midtown Campus .

Schedule: This is a part - time position - hours are Flexible with manditory Fridays

Main Function:
Provides appropriate psychological assessments to outpatients referred and admitted to the service. The Staff Psychologist is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients and families as appropriate to the age and diagnosis of the patient.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct clinical services to outpatients of Behavioral Health according to departmental protocols. Performs an assessment to identify appropriate plan of treatment based on the patient’s history, age and clinical symptoms/treatments.
  • Documents results in a timely, effective and complete manner.
  • Communicates results and interpretations to patient, family, team members, referral sources and others as requested by patient or authorized party.
  • Conducts individual, group, and family psychotherapy on a short-term basis or ongoing basis as appropriate.
  • Consults with patients, physicians, nurses, hospital personnel, family, schools and insurance representatives as necessary. 
  • Plans, organizes and implements treatment plans that are appropriate for the patient’s mental health needs.
  • Completes charges/billing in a timely manner and provides necessary documentation to third party payers as appropriate.
  • Communicates effectively with other health care providers to ensure continuity and coordination of care, appropriate care delivery, and to report changes in patient’s condition.
  • Supports departmental operations by assisting with clerical duties, supply and environment maintenance. Participates in the orientation, training, and evaluation of new staff. 11. Maintains competency and yearly educational requirements for position.
  • Adheres to all procedures related to infection control principles. Attends and actively participates in meetings as required.
  • Demonstrates support and compliance with Maryland General Hospital’s mission, vision, values, philosophy, goals, objectives and policies. 

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Currently licensed in the State of Maryland. 
  • Education: Doctorate degree in Psychology required. (Ph.D. or Psy.D)
  • Experience: Five years post doctoral clinical experience with three years experience in clinical supervision
